Our account switching service helps you to switch your bank account in just a few minutes. This article will guide you through the whole process. Here you can view our walk-through video.
Step 1: Register with your old bank
Log in with your usual online banking access data from your old bank. Qwist is regulated by BaFin.
Step 2: Automatic analysis of your transactions
Our system analyses your transactions from the last 365 days and identifies them automatically:
- Direct debits
- Incoming payments
- Standing orders
Important note: If your new bank does not provide us with your data, please enter the IBAN of your new bank account in the next step.
Step 3: Enter contact details
We need your full contact details to prepare and send the notifications to your payment partners. You can enter these in the correspondent fields.
Create a user account
You can interrupt the process at any time and continue later. Simply create a user account with your e-mail address and a password.
Step 4: Overview page
Once you have successfully entered your data and established the connection between your old and new bank, you will be taken to an overview page. All relevant information about the switch and the next steps are summarized here.
Step 5: Select direct debit recipient
Select which of the identified direct debit recipients you would like to inform about the account change. Your standing orders are also displayed as a checklist.
Notification of payment partners
- Optionally enter additional information
- Complete the process with a digital signature (via mouse or smartphone)
- For unclear transactions, you can select the payment partner from a suggestion list or add the address manually
Step 6: Manage incoming payments
All identified incoming payments are clearly displayed:
- Salary
- Tax refunds
- Other recurring payments
Simply click to select who you would like to inform about the account change.
Step 7: Close old account
You can request the closure of your old account. This will:
- Automatically let you choose the desired closure date
- Transfer any remaining balance to your new account
- Inform your old bank of the closure request
- Complete the process with your digital signature
Step 8: Download summary
On the overview page, you can download a summary of the account change, including:
- Status overview
- Any letter that has been sent to payment partners
